Goals for the Video
  1. To add an instructional resource to our curriculum that demonstrates pointing and peaking on SB1 ODUs
  2. To give students visual instruction on pointing and peaking with the SB1ODUs
  3. To give students an opportunity to practice pointing and peaking during the online courses SO THAT the hands on class truly becomes the assessment of that skill, rather than the first attempt.

Learning Objectives for the video
Phase 1 (this phase is for the CSU-G OTL 543 assignment, and for the WB FO training video)
  • List the four main steps for pointing and peaking
  • Associate the correct tools with each of the four main steps in pointing and peaking
  • Accurately describe the tool and cable configuration for pointing and peaking, for initial modem lock, and for normal modem operation

Phase 2
For the 2009 SB1 AZ/EL (this phase is for the WB FO training video)
  • Apply the correct tool and demonstrate the correct technique for pointing the elevation, using video
  • Apply the correct tool and demonstrate the correct technique for pointing the azimuth, using video
  • Apply the correct tool and demonstrate the correct technique for peaking the azimuth, using video
  • Apply the correct tool and demonstrate the correct technique for peaking the elevation, using video

Phase 3
For the 2009 SB1 AZ/EL (this phase is for the WB FO training video)
  • Apply the correct tool and demonstrate the correct technique for pointing the elevation, using video and drag/drop flash interactions
